At Farmers Insurance®, employees are empowered to explore diverse career paths where they can gain valuable skillsets that can support their ongoing career journey, while also fostering a culture of giving back to the communities in which we live, work and play. Emmie Hatch-Cofield's journey at Farmers® highlights how individuals can develop professionally while engaging with other employees who share a passion for making a difference in the broader communities.
Emmie has worked at Farmers for almost 25 years holding a variety of roles, including Claims Adjuster, Litigation Specialist and leadership roles. The skills she learned in Claims, such as organizational skills, critical thinking, problem solving, and time management are all transferrable skills that have been instrumental in her advancement across the organization. With growth and development as some of her core values, Emmie has embraced career opportunities, and has been supported by leaders and mentors along the way. Today, she serves as a Contracts Development Manager in the Product Governance Department. She is particularly impressed by Farmers' ongoing efforts to embrace innovation and stay ahead of technological advancements, as well as its unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional service and high-quality products to customers.
In addition to the career development programs available at Farmers, Emmie also actively participates in initiatives that support employee engagement and positively impact the broader community. Emmie currently co-leads the Nevada Chapter of the Farmers Community Champion Group, co-leads the Nevada Chapter of the Farmers Fit Initiative, and co-leads the Community Pillar within the Women’s Inclusion Network (WIN) Employee Resource Group (ERG). In addition, Emmie is an active member of the Black Professionals Alliance (BPA) ERG, the Personal Lines Engagement Workstream, as well as several other ERGs, including Somos Farmers, Farmers Pride, Caregiver Connect, Disability Inclusion Group, and Veterans and Advocates.
Building on this commitment, Emmie participated in the 2024 Difference Maker Program: Community and Employee Engagement. This initiative brought together cross-functional employees to develop creative ways to involve employees in philanthropic activities. These efforts align with Farmers’ commitment to economic empowerment and disaster resilience, fostering impactful contributions that strengthen both communities and the organization.
Emmie’s dedication to Farmers and the community has earned her many awards, including the Community Champion Award in 2025 and recognition by the BPA in 2024 for Community Connection.
Emmie’s story exemplifies how Farmers not only encourages career growth and development but also supports opportunities to work alongside like-minded employees dedicated to supporting each other and our broader communities.
