How does FAM protect my personal information?

measures that comply with federal law. These measures include computer safeguards and
secured files and buildings. 
How does FAM collect my personal information?
We collect your personal information, for example, when you
  • Open an account and provide account information
  • Seek advice about your investments
  • Enter into an investment advisory contract and tell us about your investment or retirement portfolio
We also collect your personal information from other companies.
Why can’t I limit all sharing?
Federal law gives you the right to limit only
  • sharing for affiliates’ everyday business purposes—information about your creditworthiness
  • affiliates from using your information to market to you
  • sharing for nonaffiliates to market to you
State laws and individual companies may give you additional rights to limit sharing. See below

What happens when I limit sharing for an account I hold jointly with someone else?

Your choices will apply to everyone on your account, unless you tell us otherwise.

Affiliates Companies related by common ownership or control. They can be financial and nonfinancial companies.
  • Companies related by common ownership or control. They can be financial and nonfinancial
    companies. Our affiliates include financial companies such as Farmers Insurance Group and
    Farmers Financial Solutions; and others, such as Foremost, Bristol West, 21st Century, and
    Toggle.
Nonaffiliates Companies not related by common ownership or control. They can be financial and nonfinancial companies.
  • FAM does not share with non-affiliates so they can market to you.
Joint marketing A formal agreement between nonaffiliated financial companies that together market financial products or services to you.
  • FAM does not jointly market.

Information for California, North Dakota and Vermont Customers

In response to applicable state law, if the mailing address provided for your account is in California, North Dakota, or Vermont, we will
automatically treat your account as if you do not want us to disclose your personal information to non-affiliated third parties for purposes of them marketing to you, except as permitted by the applicable state law.
