Farmers®/MetLife Auto & Home® Q&A

Policy Questions:

The name of your insurer will be changed to reflect Farmers or Foremost – A Farmers Insurance Company brand in the coming months. It will not be necessary to re-quote your policy.

If you are not an existing customer, and would like a quote, you can visit www.myautohome.metlife.com.

There will be no changes to how you pay your premium at this time. If you have signed up for automatic electronic payments, those payments will continue as normal (unless you are a MetLife Auto & Home employee paying through payroll deduction). If you mail in payment, you can make the payment out to MetLife Auto & Home and send it to the same address you have been. You can also pay online through your account at www.metlife.com, through the MetLife mobile app, or by phone at 1-800-422-4272.

You will not need new ID cards or policy documents. In the coming months, the name of your insurer will be changed to reflect the Farmers or Foremost – A Farmers Insurance Company brand and you will receive new documents at that time.

There will be no immediate changes to your policy, coverages, or benefits. Our tradition of great rates, extra features, and superior coverages and service will continue now that we are part of the Farmers Insurance Group®. In the coming months, the name of your insurer will be changed to reflect Farmers® or Foremost® – A Farmers Insurance® Company brand.

Upon receipt of regulatory approval, the name of your insurer will be changed to reflect Farmers or Foremost – A Farmers Insurance Company brand. Once completed, you will begin to see new branding on your policy documents, however, there will be no change to your policy number.

No, the transition is only for MetLife Auto & Home® products (excluding legal services coverage, when underwritten as insurance in several states; that will remain with a MetLife® company). All other products, including life and dental insurance, will stay with MetLife.

No immediate changes will be made to your policy premium due to the completion of the sale of MetLife Auto & Home business to Farmers Insurance Group®. As we move forward together, we are working to continue delivering great rates, coverages, and benefits to our customers. Any future changes will occur in the ordinary course of business, such as upon renewal of your policy.

Yes, you may go online or call us at 1-800-438-6381 for any new policy needs. If you work with an independent agent, you will continue to contact your agent for service. Underwriting guidelines still apply.

Initially, the online quoting experiences will still be separate. If you go to a MetLife Auto & Home quoting site, you will receive a quote for a MetLife Auto & Home product. If you go to Farmers website, you can request a quote for a Farmers policy.

No, any future changes will occur in the ordinary course of business, such as upon renewal of your policy, or in accordance with the NFIP policy terms and conditions.

No, non-renewal or cancellation decisions will not change and will continue as scheduled.

Service Questions:

Yes, you will still be able to view your policy online through metlife.com. There will be no immediate changes to the way you access your policy online.

Yes, your current agent will continue to service your policy without interruption.

Yes, you will continue to reach us the same way you always have without interruption. If you work with an independent agent, you will continue to contact your agent for service.

Please continue using the same contact information you have been using for each of your policies.

  • To report a Farmers Auto or Home insurance claim, pay a bill, or update your coverage, contact your Farmers agent or call 1-800-FARMERS (1-800-327-6377).
  • To report a MetLife Auto & Home insurance claim, please call 1-800-854-6011.  
  • To pay your MetLife Auto & Home insurance bill, or update your MetLife Auto & Home insurance coverage, please call 1-800-438-6381. If you work with an independent agent, you will continue to contact your agent for service.

No, there should be no interruption in access to your online account at metlife.com. If you are having trouble with the website, please contact the Web Team at 1-866-363-8669.

Claims Questions:

We will continue to provide you with quality service for claims arising under your MetLife Auto & Home policy. You may contact our Claims department at 1-800-854-6011.

Discounts Questions:

We are committed to a seamless transition and assure you there will be no immediate changes to your policy, coverages, or benefits.

Your MetLife Auto & Home policy will be coming with you to Farmers Insurance, so there will be no changes to your earned reward. 

We are working diligently to integrate our systems; however, this will take time. For now, your MetLife Auto & Home policy will not offer a discount for having a Farmers policy.

Insurance Through Your Employer:

Yes, we will continue to work with employers to facilitate the availability of payroll deduction for most of our group customers. However, if you are a MetLife Auto & Home employee and our customer, you will be invited to enroll in another automatic payment method.

If you work for an employer other than MetLife Group, Inc. or Met P&C®, your payroll deductions for your MetLife Auto & Home policies will continue to be facilitated by MetLife. For MetLife Group, Inc. and Met P&C employees, a communication will be shared soon, which will outline options and provide information about a care team that can assist with completing changes in payment methods.

We are committed to a seamless transition and assure you there will be no immediate changes to your policy, coverages, or benefits. Your coverage will continue with the same benefits and discounts available to you as a result of your employment or association membership. Of course, policies continue subject to their terms.

Misc Questions:

Yes, MetLife Auto & Home employees are now Farmers employees. If you have an independent agent, they will still service your policy.

The acquisition was finalized on April 7th, 2021. Immediately after the acquisition, Farmers began sending welcome letters to all MetLife Auto & Home customers, other than MyDirect® and Commercial policyholders. Notification could only take place at the finalization of the transaction, which is why you may have not received your welcome letter yet.

The Farmers Exchanges have an AM Best Financial strength rating of A, which is also the current rating for carriers writing MetLife Auto & Home business.

Due to the decision to discontinue the MyDirect Auto program, MyDirect policies will not be moving to Farmers. If you are a MyDirect customer and would like to obtain a new policy, please contact our MetLife Auto & Home insurance agency at 1-877-638-0022.

The Farmers Insurance Group® has acquired the MetLife Auto & Home® business from MetLife, Inc. (MetLife). Therefore, MetLife is no longer affiliated with MetLife Auto & Home, and is no longer responsible for any MetLife Auto & Home activities. The Farmers Insurance Group will be responsible for your policy and its administration going forward.
