Farmers Insurance to donate $5,000 to FireSafe Montana
HELENA, MT -- Farmers Insurance Group of Companies has partnered with Commissioner of Insurance Monica Lindeen and FireSafe Montana to designate the week of July 17 through 24 as Wildfire Awareness Week. Farmers will commemorate the week designed to educate Montana homeowners about wildfire safety with a $5,000 donation to FireSafe Montana at a press conference on Thursday, July 21, at 2:15 pm at Lindeen’s office.
“Farmers will present a check for $5,000 to FireSafe Montana at the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance on July 21, 2011 to help FireSafe with its fire prevention activities and recognize the Commissioner’s support for wildfire awareness programs,” stated Farmers Montana State Executive Director Jeff Robinson. Since July 17, Farmers representatives across the state have been distributing information about how to prepare for wildfires.
“With all of the flooding we’ve seen in Montana this year, it’s tempting to think we’ll catch a break when it comes to fire season,” said Lindeen. “But Montanans need to be just as cautious and prepared as ever for wildfires. Weather in Montana can turn on a dime, and spring’s new growth from could easily turn to tinder this summer and fall. I’m happy to join Farmers Insurance Group and FireSafe Montana in spreading the word and helping Montanans protect themselves from wildfires.”
“Fire Prevention week is all about saving lives and property,” noted Robinson. “We are proud to partner with FireSafe Montana to bring important information on fire prevention and safety to every homeowner and property owner in the wildfire areas of our great state. We also want to thank all of the fire services in Montana who work so diligently to educate homeowners as well about how to protect their properties from the ravages of fires.”
Jennifer Mayberry, Executive Director of FireSafe Montana, a non-profit, statewide public/private organization designed to educate the public about wildfire safety and fuel reduction programs that prevent and mitigate wildfires, noted that FireSafe Montana assists Montana communities to develop local FireSafe Councils who work on fire prevention programs in their local communities.
“We are pleased to partner with Farmers,” Mayberry explained. “It is an excellent way to get important fire prevention information out to every homeowner in Montana.”
