OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—(April 14, 2011)—The new Farmers Insurance Group of Companies® claims HelpPoint building in Oklahoma City which opened its doors in September 2010 is committed to environmentally responsible business practices. The building sets the green technology curve in town.
The building is one of the first LEED-certified buildings in Oklahoma, which means lower energy costs for Farmers.
“Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification provides third-party validation of a building's green performance, to confirm that a “green” building can provide benefits without higher costs,” explains Farmers Vice President of Real Estate, Jerry Dulek. “A national standard developed by the United States Green Building Council, LEED certification sets benchmarks for the design, construction and operation of high-performance green buildings.”
Dulek explained LEED credits, which are awarded based on five categories of performance:
“LEED uses a points system to determine a building’s certification level. The levels are certified, silver, gold and platinum,” Dulek said. “The Oklahoma City HelpPoint facility was recently awarded the Silver LEED certification on the core & shell of the building.”
The HelpPoint building in Oklahoma City houses Farmers claims personnel, who provide first-class claims service for all of Farmers customers across America,” noted Jim Daues, Farmers Senior Vice President of Claims.
“Farmers employees will benefit from the green efforts,” Dulek continued. “They will enjoy a healthier work environment – in a building that encourages employees to pursue their personal wellness plans with bicycle storage, more natural sunlight and fewer allergens.”
