Your Home is Burglarized
When your child is home alone

Make a phone list of emergency numbers with the police and fire departments, your neighbors and your place of work.
Take fire precautions. You should have a working smoke detector for every level of your home. Review and practice escape routes. A fire extinguisher is a good idea.
Install locks. Put deadbolts on all doors that give access to the house, including the attached garage door. Deadbolts should be anchored to the joists, not the molding.
Check the alarm system. Make sure your children know whether the home alarm is on or off and how to set it and disarm it.
Set some rules about when and how your child should answer the door and the phone when you are not there.
