Farmers Insurance featured at Pacific Coast Dream Machines event

May 1 at Half Moon Bay Airport, California

LOS ANGELES, CA(April 18, 2011)— Farmers Insurance Companies® will be featured at Northern California’s biggest car and historic military aircraft show on Sunday, May 1, from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m. at Half Moon Bay Airport South of San Francisco.

“We are excited about being a part of this year’s Dream Machines event,” noted Farmers State Executive Director John Weaver.  “Half Moon Bay's massive annual celebration of mechanical ingenuity, power and style is a remarkable show-and-tell spectacle."

Farmers will feature several items at the Dream Machines event. “This year we invite all event-goers to visit Farmers famous Orange County Chopper; a Customer Care Vehicle, one of a fleet of 39 claims vehicles which are deployed quickly to any disaster in the country; Farmers Hot Air Balloon, named ExtraordinAir; and Farmers agents will conduct a Managing Information for Lost Kids (M.i.l.k.) program during the day,” Weaver said.

Farmers Orange County Chopper

The Farmers Harley-Davidson motorcycle, is a one of a kind motorcycle custom-built by Orange County Choppers of New York.  It is festooned with Farmers Colors and Logo.  It has 7 ft. forks and has been used for many photo opportunities and promotional activities. “The custom paintwork was done by NUB, a nationally well-known painter of custom Motorcycles. The black custom leather seat was designed by Danny Gray.  The Chopper is powered by a V-twin engine which is fully chromed and polished with very high detail.  The Chopper is equipped with an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold, Mikumi Carburetor, Baker 6 speed transmission, chromed custom oil tank, custom dual exhaust, and a Foremost Insurance custom cover on the belt drive, along with Foremost custom dual mirrors.

M.i.l.k. Program

“We are also going to be setting up a “M.i.l.k” booth to photograph and fingerprint as many children as possible,” Weaver stated.

Parents will receive a CD of their child’s photo and fingerprints.  The Milk program is aimed at aiding in the recovery of lost children. In the event of an emergency, the M.i.l.k. Digital ID can immediately be forwarded to local authorities and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The M.i.l.k. Digital ID has been referred to as the first step in the national Amber Alert plan.

“We hope all parents attending the Dream Machines Show will stop by our booth located right across from the Kids Play Area, and right next to the law enforcement booths,” Weaver said.  .”All a parent has to do is come to the “M.i.l.k. booth and pick up a kit.”

Customer Care Vehicle (CCV)

Joining the MCC, O.C. Chopper and Milk booth will be Farmers Customer Care Vehicle (CCV).  Farmers has a fleet of 39 smaller CCV’s stationed in each of Farmers’ core states, enabling Farmers to be first on the scene when a disaster strikes.  Each trailer transforms into a mobile claims response vehicle.  The CCV is equipped with state-of-the-art satellite communications equipment and supplies to help Farmers’ customers and non-customers alike at a disaster scene.

When not deployed to a catastrophic event, CCV’s show up at local community and national events such as the March of Dimes March for Babies; the Zurich Classic (New Orleans); Farmers Insurance Open (San Diego), golf tournaments; and the Pasadena Rose Parade.

Hot Air Balloon ExtraordinAIR

Farmers "ExtraordinAIR" is a 90,000 cubic ft. Balloon with the Farmers Logo incorporated as part of the Construction.  Built by "Cameron Balloons US" for Farmers in 2008 it is 87 ft. tall and 46 ft. wide when fully inflated.  It has two independently operated burners capable of producing 18 Million BTUs each.  ExtraordinAIR can carry 3 to 4 passengers plus the Pilot and carries enough fuel (Propane) to fly for 2 1/2 to 3 hours per flight.

ExtraordinAIR will be on the ground tethered at the Dream Machine Show and available for short rides for some lucky show goers during the Dream Machine event.
