Farmers Insurance joins highway officials in asking Missouri drivers to stay off the streets during terrible snow storms

Jefferson City, MO.—(February 1, 2011) - Farmers Insurance Group of Companies® wants all Missourians to be safe during the snow and ice storms that are pounding the state.

“We are joining the call by all emergency service personnel and the highway patrol and asking all Missouri drivers to not drive until it is safe,” noted Paul Crosetti, Farmers Missouri State Executive Director.  “The weather service is calling this a major and deadly storm and if you drive be extra careful and be sure to take extra clothes, blankets and water for any emergency.”

Farmers’ customers who need to file a claim are asked to call Farmers’ 24 hour claims hotline, 800-HelpPoint (1-800-435-7764) for immediate assistance.

Foremost Insurance customers should file their claim by calling: 1-800-527-3907.

Farmers reminds homeowners to be extra careful while using kerosene or gas heaters, wood fireplaces or wood heaters in the home.  “Make sure the heaters are in a safe location,” Crosetti said.  ”Follow the safety instructions carefully for each heater.  When using the fireplace, make sure you are not burning anything that could be highly flammable, and  keep children safe from high heat and flames.”
