Caledonia, MI (November 15, 2010) – Farmers Insurance, in partnership with a local professional development group – BL²END (Business Leaders Linked to Encourage New Directions) – will host a special networking and community outreach event on Tuesday, November 16 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the company’s facility located at 5600 Beech Tree Lane in Caledonia.
The evening will feature a special presentation from Birgit Klohs, President and CEO of The Right Place, Inc., Michigan’s regional economic development organization.
“Farmers is thrilled to partner with the BL²END organization to bring this special professional development opportunity to the local community,” said Kerri Popowich, Human Resources Partner for Farmers in Michigan. “We are also honored to have Birgit Klohs as our distinguished speaker.”
BL²END is a local, Grand Rapids-based group established to increase the engagement and contribute to the retention of young professionals of color in the community. For the past several years the organization has co-hosted public events to provide opportunities for social networking, professional development and community outreach to people early in their careers.
“We have been very impressed with the BL²END organization and the talented young professionals who attend their events,” said Beth Asbury, a recruiting professional for Farmers in Caledonia. “Like BL²END, Farmers is committed to making a positive impact in our local communities and we are confident that events like this help to further our efforts.”
Tuesday’s event is free and open to the public. Space is limited so those wishing to attend are encouraged to RSVP at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling BL²END at 616-520-7298.
