Yuma, AZ (October 18, 2011) – A group of local Farmers Insurance agents and their district manager presented a check for $1,000 to an assemblage of local dignitaries, including Somerton School District superintendent Dr. Frank Reed and Nereida Clark, wife of Border Patrol Agent Hector Clark who was tragically killed while on patrol earlier this year, to help finish work on a basketball court at Orange Grove Elementary School in Yuma.
“Getting this basketball court completed is important, not only for the local kids who will use it daily, but also for our entire community,” said Warren Keith, one of Yuma’s local Farmers representatives. “This is also a fitting way to honor the memory of Border Patrol Officer Hector Clark, someone who understood the importance of providing opportunities for safe and healthy recreation for our young people.”
Farmers agents from the greater Yuma area have organized their own community sponsorship fund to help support locally-based initiatives that improve the surrounding community. This latest donation reflects the group’s commitment to being positive contributors to the Yuma area.
The check presentation occurred on Tuesday, October 11 at Keith’s Yuma District Office located at 900 W. 8th Street in Yuma. Also on hand to receive the contribution were Clark’s two children, Katie and Cody; fellow Border Patrol Officers Jose Rodriguez and Johnny Lara; Somerton School District representative Jerry Cabrera; Yuma Farmers Insurance agents Eric Capetillo, Dave Kern, Marie Puckett, Jack DeLange, Sandy Ramos, Reggie Smith, David Schuman, Val Guzman, and Francisco Flores; along with Farmers District Manager Warren Keith.
