Los Angeles, CA (January 27, 2010)—Farmers Insurance Group of Companies® the title sponsor of the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines, announced today an educational donation to all San Diego high schools on behalf of Farmers and the Century Club.
Farmers will donate copies of its award winning educational DvD Freedom’s Song to Cathedral Catholic High School during a special screening of Freedom’s Song on Wednesday January 27, 2010 at 1:00 p.m.
Freedom’s Song brings African-American history to life in a documentary film highlighting significant milestones in the history of the African-American experience during the past century. It includes living testimonials designed to put a personal face on the actual historical events featured in the film.
“At Farmers, we believe nothing is more important than education,” said Randy Rice, National Manager of Educational Programs for Farmers Insurance Group. “That’s why we continue to create and distribute our award-winning education programs free of charge to teachers. The programs make our schools better, our communities richer and our country stronger.”
Rice is the writer and director of Freedom’s Song and will share his unique insight in making the film with two Cathedral Catholic High School history classes. To date Farmers has donated more than 200,000 copies of its six educational documentaries to schools across the nation, free of charge. Most of these documentaries have supporting lesson plans developed by educators for educators and meet all state and nationwide standards for education.
